NOT IN FASHION

Mark Borthwick started taking pictures in mid 1980's. Working extensively for The Face, i-D, Purple and Italian Vogue, Borthwick was instrumental in shaping the visual language of the 1990s, a time when he and his peers broke with conventional fashion photography and created a new school of naturalistic imagery that still continues to influence fashion photography and advertising today. Having collaborated with artists like Mike Mills, Aaron Rose, Sinéad O’Connor and Sonic Youth, Borthwick started developing a series of musical relationships in 2001. It became the the group USUN, a creative collective featuring local experimental rock musicians in Boerum Hill, a small neighborhood in Brooklyn where Borthwick now lives with his wife, the designer Maria Cornejo, and their children. The group creates acoustic folk music, feeding off improvisation and communal art gatherings. Fitting for his generous spirit, Borthwick is also a very good cook.

So sick to death of Prada.

Rem Koolhaas + Prada = The new transformer

'Prada Transformer' - designed by OMA/Rem Koolhaas showcases a ground-breaking series of cross-cultural exhibitions, screenings and live events. The shape-shifting transformer combines four sides of a tetrahedron: hexagon, cross, rectangle and circle into one pavilion. The building is entirely covered with a smooth elastic membrane and is flipped using cranes, to completely reconfigure the visitor's experience with each new programme. This is a building with four identities, whenever one shape becomes the ground plan, the other three shapes become the walls and ceiling, defining the space.
