"This season we have been inspired by the three dimentional quality of CHRYSTALLISED swarovski elements. The geometry at the centre of each crystal is the basis for the shapes in the collection. We have used circular crystals before, but this time we have chosen rectangular polygons and these straight lines have provided a change, and an excitement. They are a big part of the show, not only on the clothes but also on leggings, arm-pieces, and headwear,"
Ash and Jono met for the first time on a shot for a Topman campaign earlier this year. "We kept on bumping into each other at various shoots," explains Jono. "One night, after the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week, we drunkenly joked about starting a band. Three weeks later, we were in a studio with Tom rehursing together."
The Mannequins play raw old-school punk that references everything from Adam Ant to Pantera. It comes as a bit of a suprise then, when the Mannequins also list High School Musical as a sorce of inspiration. "We're working on our own renditions of the songs" laughs Jono. "We were thinking of getting Zac Efron to do backing vocals for us." www.myspace.com/mannequinsband
